It is widely known that oral expression classroom contexts are complex, thence, both OE teacher and EFL students are responsible for creating a supportive classroom atmosphere in order to improve EFL learning process, however, some OE teacher relies heavily on their old methods rather than new ones, thus we intend to provide some methods to stimulate the EFL classroom interaction through relying on new strategies and useful techniques.
“Interaction is the fundamental fact of classroom pedagogy because everything that happens in EFL classroom happens through a process of life of a person-to-person interaction”
Allwright(1984)
Classroom interaction is one of the bases that impels EFL students to acquire a foreign language successfully, in fact, it is considered as one of the most challenging issues for EFL teachers mainly in oral sessions.
Since oral expression teacher plays a significant role in order to promote positive interaction. He must introduce new tips in his classroom. Basically, Classroom interaction involves the listener who received the information and produces utterances, whether in the form of learner-learner interaction or learner-teacher interaction. in both cases, the prior responsibility goes to the teacher since he is the instructor, therefore,I have outlined some useful techniques bellow ;
- Create a relaxed classroom atmosphere through establishing a comfortable learning environment using a sense of humor. construct a friendly relationship between OE teachers and EFL students.
- use positive eye contact while speaking to the learners and most importantly addressing each one by his name. Besides, Awake learners’ consciousness that committing mistakes are a natural part of the EFL learning process, this will inevitably stimulate their learning and support the EFL learners to participate comfortably, and interact positively
- Implement interesting and motivational topics, sessions.
- try to listen carefully to the students’ opinions. Making sure to guide the learners, encourage them, and praising them after they raise their opinion, through using multiple activities, such as; problem-solving, role play, supporting pair works, and classroom dialogue. As Thornbury once declared “
Practicing dialogue has a long history n language teaching-not surprisingly since language is essentially dialogue in its use […], dialogue practice also provides a useful change of focus from teacher-led classroom interaction. Even in large classes with fixed furniture, setting up paperwork is not an insurmountable management challenge.

In brief, EFL teachers must use diversification of activities in order to attract the learners and compel them to interact more.
however, we must admit that even EFL learners are responsible for promoting classroom interaction as well. through positive self-discipline, following teachers’ instructions, hard work, and perseverance. As Rivers stated once;
” in interaction, students can use all they possess of the language – all they have learned or casually absorbed – in real-life exchanges…”
Rivers,1987
